BLUE REGENCY HOTEL INTERIOR RENOVATION

ISTANBUL, TURKEY

(Interior design and site coordination at Gemiqaya Holding)

Project Overview:

Formerly known as Istanhblue Hotel, this establishment was rebranded as Blue Regency Hotel after being acquired by Gemikaya Holding. During its operation, the ground-floor expansion became necessary when two vacant retail spaces were integrated into the hotel's lobby area, requiring a redesign of the shared spaces.

Design & Renovation Details:

The hotel consists of two blocks, and the newly designed lobby bar area was developed with a wave-like ceiling concept. This was achieved by covering the mechanical ducts between the two buildings and elevating the ceiling in areas without ducts, creating a dynamic and flowing design.

In the restaurant section, all existing surface materials were removed and replaced with new finishes. Additionally, all ground-floor restrooms, lobby, and restaurant areas were completely renovated. The reception ceiling design was inspired by the hotel's logo, forming a two-tiered circular feature that enhances the brand identity.

A distinctive approach was taken in door designs, ensuring that each entrance reflected the ceiling design of the respective space. One notable example is the lobby bar door, where the two swinging panels, shaped in a wave pattern, come together to resemble a guitar, mirroring the bar ceiling.

Despite its small garden area, a unique atmosphere was created through a wooden pathway with hidden LED-lit broken glass panels, producing a harmonious play of light and color. At the center of the garden, three raw glass blocks, each weighing 80–100 kg, were positioned as sculptural elements. Waterproof spotlights beneath these blocks projected a blue light, aligning with the hotel's branding. The same blue light effect was also integrated behind the mirrors in the restroom areas.

To enhance energy efficiency, all ambient lighting was replaced with power LEDs, leading to a one-third reduction in electricity consumption within the first month.
