ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY CAMPUS
KARBALA, IRAQ
(Designed & Coordinated at Creative Design)
Project Overview
Designed to reflect Islamic motifs and adapt to the desert climate, this 205,000 m² university campus embraces a radial layout symbolizing the sun. At the center, a grand conference hall, inspired by the form of a traditional tent, serves as the main gathering and educational hub. Surrounding it are 14 faculty buildings, each dedicated to different academic disciplines, forming the educational core of the campus.
The outer perimeter, covering additional functions, includes dormitories, separate prayer halls for male and female students, dining facilities, a sports complex, and small villas for lecturers. This arrangement ensures a well-balanced environment, integrating academic, residential, and social spaces seamlessly.
Role & Responsibilities
The entire 87,500 m² construction was designed and executed in Revit, allowing a fully BIM-integrated workflow. My responsibilities included:
- Conceptual and architectural design
- 3D modeling and visualization
- Quantity takeoff and BOQ extraction
- Development of application (construction) drawings
- Rendering all visualizations using Revit's rendering engine
By leveraging Revit for both design and documentation, the project achieved high precision and efficiency, ensuring a cohesive architectural identity that harmonizes function and aesthetics.
